Easy Air Fryer Chicken Fajitas: Quick & Flavorful

Make delicious Chicken Fajitas quickly and easily in your air fryer! This recipe features perfectly seasoned chicken strips and tender-crisp peppers and onions.

Ingredients

  • ▢ 2 chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into strips (around 1 pound/450g total)
  • ▢ 1 red bell pepper, sliced into ½ inch slices
  • ▢ 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced into ½ inch slices
  • ▢ 1 green bell pepper, sliced into ½ inch slices
  • ▢ 1 red onion, sliced into wedges or thick slices
  • ▢ 3 tablespoons fajita seasoning (one 1-oz packet, or homemade blend)
  • ▢ 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

For Serving (Suggestions):

  • Warm tortillas (flour or corn)
  • Pico de gallo or salsa
  • Avocado slices or guacamole
  • Sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • Shredded cheese
  • Fresh cilantro

Instructions

1. Preheat the Air Fryer:

  • Preheat your Air Fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. Getting it hot before adding the food helps achieve better results.

2. Season Chicken and Vegetables:

  • Place the chicken strips in a large bowl. Drizzle with the vegetable oil.
  • Sprinkle the fajita seasoning over the chicken. Toss well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated.
  • Add the sliced bell peppers and sliced red onion to the bowl with the seasoned chicken.
  • Toss everything together thoroughly, making sure the vegetables also get coated with the oil and seasoning.

3. Air Fry:

  • Place the seasoned chicken and vegetable mixture into the preheated air fryer basket. Try to arrange it in a relatively even layer, but it’s okay if it’s crowded.
  • Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 15 minutes total.

4. Toss Halfway Through:

  • After about 7-8 minutes of cooking, open the air fryer basket and use tongs to toss the chicken and vegetables well. This ensures even cooking and charring.
  • Continue air frying for the remaining 7-8 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender-crisp and slightly charred.

5. Serve:

  • Carefully remove the cooked chicken and vegetables from the air fryer basket.
  • Serve immediately with warmed tortillas and your favorite fajita toppings like pico de gallo, avocado slices or guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and fresh cilantro.
